Can I come solo?

Yes! In fact, many guests do. From sunrise yoga to dinner conversations, this place is made for

connection. You’ll meet kindred spirits without the small talk strain.

Who is The Salty for?
The Salty is for anyone who believes wellness should feel social, not serious. Whether you’re catching your first wave, chasing your tenth, or just craving space to breathe and reconnect, you’ll fit right in. Most of our guests are between 20 and 45… curious, open-minded and drawn to community, movement, and meaningful connection. Some come solo, some with friends, others as couples — but everyone leaves feeling lighter, inspired, and part of something real. It’s social wellness by the sea — where balance meets good vibes and everything just flows.
I’ve never surfed or done yoga. Can I still come?
Absolutely. No expectations, no ego—just a chance to try something new. Whether you’re dipping your toes or going all-in, we’ll meet you where you are.
What else is there to do besides yoga and surf ?
Yoga and surfing are at our core, but there’s more to explore. Step away from waves and mats to discover local towns, culture, and nearby cities. Join group dinner nights up to four times a week, pizza & wine evenings, live music nights, or unwind with Guided Meditation Hikes or City tours in Portugal. For adventure, try an elephant safari jeep tour in Sri lanka, it’s just one of our guests favourites. For pure relaxation, book a massage with our in-house therapist. Every moment offers a soulful escape.
What is shared accommodation?
Our premium shared rooms offer an affordable, comfortable space with either private or shared bathrooms. It’s a great way to meet like-minded yogis and make new friends in a welcoming community. Most guests are solo female travellers seeking a relaxed, rejuvenating experience. While all-female rooms can’t always be guaranteed, they’re usually available when you book early.
Do you have lockers in the rooms?
Yes! Every shared room includes a personal, electronically locked drawer or a secure hanging wardrobe—right under or beside your bed. Access is easy and safe with your own RFID wristband, so your belongings stay protected while you enjoy your retreat.
What can I do with my bags after check-out?
No worries — package guests can store their luggage with us for free until 6 PM on check-out day. Just swing by and grab it before you head off!
Food & Drinks at The Salty
Authentic Baja tacos, quesadillas, local wines, cold beers, and spicy mango or coconut margaritas served in a relaxed poolside Boho setting. Our small, tasty Salty Bites menu is all about quality — perfect for sharing and naturally gluten-free.
Adults Only Policy
Our retreat is adults only (16+). For any exceptions, please contact us before booking. Unapproved guests under 16 won’t be allowed.
Laundry Service
We offer laundry service on request. Our team can wash and dry your clothes for an additional charge. Availability may vary—just ask!
Guest Kitchen & Self-Catering Facilities
Only our Cascais location includes a shared guest kitchen with fridge, cooking facilities, and all the essentials. At all other retreats — Ericeira, Peniche, and Sri Lanka — there’s no space to store or prepare personal food (cold or dry). In Peniche, our private double rooms include a mini-bar fridge for drinks and small snacks storage. And wherever you stay, our all-day Salty Bites menu has you covered with fresh, tasty meals from breakfast through dinner.
Do I have to join every yoga or surf session?
Not at all. Your stay is yours to shape. Join every sunrise flow or skip a day to journal, read, or explore—we’re all about freedom, not structure.
What levels do you cater to?

SURF

  • Level 0: Total beginner — first time ever on a board.

  • Level 1: Learning the basics — catching whitewater and getting that pop-up dialed.

  • Level 2: Confident paddler — starting to catch green waves and work on turns.

YOGA

All classes are open-level and guided with care — think soulful flow, not bootcamp. Whether you’re brand new or an experienced yogi, you’ll fit right in.

What’s the vibe?
Chilled coastal living with a spark of adventure. Nestled in Cascais, you’re just a skip and hop away from vibrant Lisbon’s buzzing streets. Surf breaks, city life, and storybook castles collide here. Wander Lisbon by day, explore Sintra’s magical palaces—Pena, Monserrate, and Quinta da Regaleira—by afternoon, then catch golden hour at Cabo da Roca, the wild western edge of Europe. It’s laid-back, sun-soaked, and full of salty soul.
How do I get there?

Fly into Lisbon. We’re just 25 minutes by car or take the coastal train to Cascais. We can help arrange direct airport transfers or provide travel tips. Send us an email with your flight details and we’ll confirm the current airport transfer rates.

Can I come for a long weekend?
Absolutely! Our 3-night packages are perfect for a quick reset—real waves, nourishing food, and all the salty vibes you need. Cascais is just 25 minutes from Lisbon Airport, the gateway to direct flights from many European cities and beyond, with easy transfers we can organise or a convenient train option.
What makes it special?

Ericeira is Europe’s first World Surfing Reserve, where legendary waves meet raw coastal charm—but it’s more than surf. Wander cobbled streets, sip coffee at coastal cafés, and soak up a surf community you’ll wish you could pack in your suitcase. Plus, it’s just a quick 35-minute transfer or direct bus ride from Lisbon Airport, making it easy to arrive and start your adventure.

Best time to surf?
We’re open from March to October, when the surf’s at its best and the sun’s out more often than not. Spring and autumn bring consistent, punchy swells for confident surfers, while summer serves up mellow, glassy waves perfect for beginners and intermediates. The Atlantic can stay a little fresh, but that’s half the fun — we’ll keep you warm in quality wetsuits while you chase those endless blue lines.
Is this good for remote workers?
Yes. Good Wi-Fi, communal work areas, and inspiring sea views. Work, surf, repeat.
What’s the vibe?
Authentic. Raw. Pure surf obsession. Our retreat sits right opposite the surf beach, where you can watch waves and surfers from our killer rooftop bar in style. Just steps from hidden bars and restaurants tucked behind the sand dunes of Peniche and Baleal, it’s all rooftop sunsets, backyard BBQs, and salt-kissed skin to fuel your soul. Sip cocktails to chilled beats with epic golden-hour views, then unwind by the pool — your perfect post-surf escape.
How far is it from Lisbon?
About 60 minutes from Lisbon airport. We can help arrange direct airport transfers or provide travel tips.
Do I need to bring my own surf gear?
Nope! We’ve got you covered — literally.
From high-performance Flowt surfboards to everything you’ll need in the water. In Sri Lanka, we swap wetsuits for long-sleeve Salty surf shirts to keep you sun-safe (and tan-line free). Just bring yourself, your stoke, and we’ll take care of the rest.
What’s the vibe?
Barefoot, sun-drenched, and off the beaten path. Hiriketiya is where jungle meets the Indian Ocean — mellow surf, palm lined beaches and coconuts for days. Mornings start with jungle view yoga (often with curious monkeys swinging by), followed by glassy waves and hammock afternoons. It’s wild, tropical and full of salty soul — Sri Lanka, just how it should be.
How do I get there?
Fly into Colombo — we offer direct air conditioned private transfers (3 hours) through palm lined roads. For pricing, just send us a message! Don’t forget, there’s also the famous railway journey down to Sri Lanka’s stunning south coast for a truly memorable ride.
What’s included at the Sri Lanka retreat?
Daily yoga (up to 3 sessions) including functional movement classes, breathwork sessions, surf coaching (package specific), surfboard rentals, tropical à la carte breakfasts, four group dinners weekly, massage options (extra if not included in your package), and barefoot jungle living.
Is Sri Lanka safe for solo travellers?
Yes, and our team will help you feel supported from the moment you land. Many guests come solo and leave feeling like part of a chosen family.
Seasons in Sri Lanka

Honestly — anytime. Sri Lanka’s tropical climate stays warm and sunny year-round, with temperatures between 26–30°C (78–86°F).

Dry Season (Nov–Apr): Our prime time. Blue skies, perfect waves, and island adventures from dawn till dusk.

Inter-Monsoon (Oct & Nov): Mostly sunny with the occasional tropical sprinkle — ideal if you love peaceful beaches and a slower pace.

Green Season (May–Sep): The Yala Monsoon brings short, refreshing showers and lush, vibrant scenery. The surf’s still pumping, and you’ll have the beaches mostly to yourself.

We’re open all year, with July and August buzzing with European summer travelers, while other months bring a more relaxed, soulful vibe. Whenever you come, the ocean’s warm, the smiles are real, and the waves are waiting.

Visas for Sri Lanka
Most travellers need a visa to enter Sri Lanka. You can easily apply online for a 30-day visa through the official Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system — quick, simple, and official. If you want to stay longer, extensions up to 6 months are possible. Always apply via the official site to avoid extra fees: eta.org.lk
What should I pack?
Swimsuit? Yes. Flip-flops? Definitely. Sunscreen? Don’t bother — the good stuff’s right here at The Salty. Yoga wear; Lightweight layers; Curiosity and chill vibes. Travel light—we’ve got you covered with vegan-friendly shampoo & conditioner in every shower, plus towels for the beach and shower included at check-in for all guests on a package.
What’s check-in/check-out like?
Check-in: Any day you like — yep, really. After 2 PM, your Salty Escape begins. Check-out: By 11 AM, but we won’t blame you for wanting to stay forever.
Do you offer airport transfers?
Absolutely — any day, any time. Just send us your flight details and we’ll arrange it for you (paid extra, but totally worth it).
What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 7 days before your arrival date – You’ll receive a full refund, minus a small processing fee. Cancel within 7 days of arrival – Your deposit becomes non-refundable, as we’ve already set everything in motion to welcome you. We strongly recommend travel insurance for peace of mind — it’s the best way to protect your plans if something unexpected comes up.
Can I extend my stay once I arrive?
If we have space—yes! Many guests do. Once you find your flow, it’s hard to leave.
Can I just show up?
You can roll the dice—but no promises! Our retreats fill up fast, and nightly rates change with the season. Plus, those nightly rates don’t include any of the good stuff like yoga, surfboard rental, wellness activities or our legendary breakfast. It’s way better value (and way less stress) to book one of our packages in advance. Leave it too late and you might miss out… salty tears optional.
Food & Drinks at The Salty

Our tropical poolside restaurant is where flavor meets flow. Think gluten-free Baja-style fish tacos, coconut curry chicken skewers, crispy pakora burgers, and falafel bowls bursting with color and spice — all made fresh and perfect for sharing after a surf or yoga session.

Sip on coconut margaritas, ginger mojitos, or our signature Serendib cocktail, and cool off with homemade smoothies, kombucha, or king coconut water.

It’s laid-back, sun-soaked dining — the kind where sand still clings to your feet, conversation flows easily, and every bite tastes like holiday.

Do I need to bring my own yoga gear?

Nope — we’ve got you covered with quality mats, props, and peaceful indoor and outdoor spaces ready to roll. Just bring yourself, a positive mindset, and comfortable, lightweight clothing you can move freely in. We’ll handle the rest.
